About Us
About Frequency Lab Records (F-L-R)
was created to provide a different kind of creative space – one where sound is used not just for performance or production, but for connection, regulation and personal growth.
Rooted in lived experience and community practice, F-L-R brings together music production, therapeutic approaches and frequency-based work to support people in expressing themselves, building confidence and reconnecting with their creative identity.
The project grew from a recognition that many people, particularly those navigating mental health challenges, additional support needs or social exclusion, do not always feel comfortable or represented in traditional creative or clinical settings. F-L-R exists to bridge that gap.
Why We Exist
We believe everyone has a creative voice, even if they have never been given the space or support to find it.
For some, music is expression.
For others, it is regulation.
For many, it is the first place they feel heard.
F-L-R exists to create safe, non-judgemental environments where people can explore sound at their own pace, without pressure, expectation or labels.
Our Ethos
Our work is inclusive, non-clinical, person-centred and community-rooted.
We prioritise emotional safety, accessibility and respect in every session, whether we are working with young people, adults with additional needs, community groups or individuals seeking a creative outlet.
We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Each person’s relationship with sound is different, and we honour that.

How We Work
We use songwriting, rhythm, immersive audio, sound design, music technology and frequency-based practices to support expression, emotional processing and wellbeing.
Sessions may be structured or open-ended, energetic or calm, depending on the needs of the individuals involved. There is no requirement to perform, no expectation to “be musical”, and no pressure to participate beyond what feels comfortable.
Our role is to facilitate, support and hold space – not to direct or control.
Community & Collaboration
Much of our work is delivered in partnership with community centres, schools, third sector organisations and support services across Aberdeen and the surrounding region.
We believe meaningful change happens through collaboration, trust and consistency. F-L-R is committed to building long-term relationships within the communities it serves.
Looking Ahead
F-L-R continues to grow as a creative and therapeutic platform, expanding its work across community outreach, youth programmes, therapeutic sound, music production and emerging technologies.
Our focus is on sustainability, integrity and impact – ensuring that the work remains accessible, grounded and responsive to the people it is designed to support.
